How to Test If Your TV Remote or any Infra-red Device is Working

Its not common but there are times we find ourselves frustrated when the TV or DVD remote is not working. More frustrating when we get to a point where we don”t know if the it’s a problem with the remote’s battery, the remote itself, the TV set or DVD player or the remote’s signal just doesn’t reach the receiving device’s IR sensor.

A good way to test if your IR remote is working is with the use of a camera. IR light is invisible to the naked eye but digital cameras can see them. And it works on cellphone cameras too. Just point your TV remote’s transmitter to the camera and start pressing the buttons. If the remote is working, you should see a light coming from the remote’s transmitter through the camera screen.
