3 Most Common Grammatical Mistakes Seen Around The Internet

Ok, seems like I’ve really embraced being a grammar nazi. But I’m not really one since I make grammar and spelling mistakes once in a while too. So instead of bitching about how everyone makes stupid mistakes online, I’ll be writing about the mistakes people usually make. This way, you can avoid them.

your – you’re
“Your” is a possesive pronoun used to denote ownership.
Ex. This is your prize.

“You’re” is a contraction for the words “you are
Ex. You’re the next in line.

there – their – they’re
“There” is used to describe or point out people, places, events, things or ideas.
Ex. There is always something there to remind me.

“Their” is a possesive pronoun used to denote ownership.
Ex. They took their things and left.

“They’re” is a contradiction of the words “they are
Ex. They’re leaving for the city tonight.

than – then
“Than” is used in comparisons.
Ex. He got more than what he bargained for.

“Then” is used in expressing results and consequences.
Ex. If you eat too much then you’re gonna get a stomach ache.
