Recycling And Using Less Plastic Products Won’t Save Mother Earth

I believe that it’s a huge misconception that recycling and using less plastics will help save Mother Earth.

My logic is really simple. Less usage of plastic products means more consumption of paper products or other alternatives. Increased usage of wood products means more trees are cut down. The problem is still there, you’re just shifting it in another area.

But we can recycle paper and other products!

Those recycling plants and processes consume lots of energy and produce waste too. So the “good” effect is proportional to the energy consumed and waste products. It just kinda evens out.

The way I see it, people are jsut trying to make themselves feel better about abusing our resources. That’s just sad.

However, I do believe in the last two R’s. Reuse and Reduce. To really help save the Earth, reduce your consumption and reuse the stuff you have! No need for fancy recycling nonsense!

Just a few stuff that I read about EDSA 1’s first anniversary. Time and again, I see people including Senator Bongbong Marcos questioning the success of EDSA 1. Their argument always include the state of the country today. At first thought, it looks like they have a point. However, I don’t buy their reasoning. I […]

Experiences Are Really Priceless

Amidst all the sad news around the music industry lately, I realize that experiences are really priceless. I realize that I am thankful that I was able to watch at least two live gigs of Bamboo when they were still intact. I tell you, the energy they have on tv and radio is multiplied at […]

  1. the point in using less plastic is to lessen “non-biodegradable” waste.

–“Those recycling plants and processes consume lots of energy and produce waste too.”

not anymore. newer recycling plants use renewable energy and organic/biodegradable products. theres no sense in recycling material if you’re just gonna dump a lot of unmanagable waste in the process.

so no, I don’t think this is a misconcesption.
